Organizational History

Founded in 1900, OAAT is one of Texas' oldest and most effective trade associations representing the interests of outdoor advertising companies across the state.

Until 1965, the Association's activities were directed toward helping members in operations and sales.  With passage of the Highway Beautification Act of 1965, it became apparent the industry needed to broaden its efforts at the legislative and local ordinance-making levels.

The OAAT has moved to protect the private property rights of member companies and has been at the forefront of efforts changing the state laws to protect those interests as well as promote responsible growth.
